An original watercolour painting by Sarah Wallace-Smith on Saunders Waterford paper 300GSM
Archival framing, in Victorian Ash
I've been thinking about my colonial heritage, our current farming practices as well as the impact of feral animals on the land.
Big, wet watercolour is so much fun to work with! It is this sexy dance between urgency and patience. I love it! I love that I don't have time to wonder about the outcome, I'm just working in the moment. It is the complete opposite to my drawing practice, slowly building up the layers, imagining the folds of fur and underlying flesh....very calming, very zen!
