"This delicate watercolour is inspired by house tiles found @valentinesantiquesgallery, life on our family farm and the amazing photography of Australian photographer, Mark Sanders.

I was wondering what sort of house the tiles came out of, what the garden might have been like, what she looked out of her kitchen window at. The lifetime of joys and sorrows discussed around the table.

Working on these intricate pieces allows me to slow right down and work both sides of my brain when I repeat mirror imaged patterns like this. I find it's always easier painting one way. Its opposite can be quite tricky. I also enjoyed dragging out my nan's old magnifying glass to help me work on the fine detail. Another nostalgic connection to the past... I love how something I breathe life into today can instantly transport me to people and times I have loved so dearly."

An original watercolour painting by Sarah Wallace-Smith on Arches Aquarelle 300gsm paper.

Please note that sometimes, the white of the paper and colours may differ slightly. Please ring or email me before purchasing, if at all concerned.

Is my painting ready to hang? All framed works are READY TO HANG! You can choose to use the traditional hanging wire, or the D-rings on each side if you prefer your paintings sit flush to the wall.

Unframed work comes to you with its archival mount board. Once it arrives, you have the fun of choosing your own frame and how to hang it at your own expense. This is also a popular choice when gifting artwork.

Caring for your painting: To clean your painting, very lightly dust the surface with a soft, dry brush, or a picture cleaning 'air blower'. Do not use cleaning products, water or any moisture on the surface of your paniting as this may cause damage.

Watercolour paintings behind glass can be cleaned in a similar fashion. A slightly damp cloth can be used to carefully clean the glass & frame only. It is best not to hang watercolours in direct sunlight.

Image: Paintings shown are photographs of original artwork. Although every effort has been made to display the closest representation of the artwork, colours, definition and texture may differ from the image shown. This is due to the nature of photographs and the display of images on a computer screen.
